The old sockets are toast after 10 years, and you just can't keep them operating by cleaning contacts, bending them, etc. Replacement with these little boogers is your only option. So far so good. Turn signals now work and I don't have to coax the old sockets into working temporarily (you can't make the worn out ones continue to work) just to pass the state inspections. However, a light bulb socket if properly designed shouldn't fail....Delco, your design stinks.
