(More customer reviews)I had to grind the neutral (wide) blade on my computer power adapter to fit this device as the slots on the Brunton are both the small kind.
The unit is cooled by a fan that is audible, and at times seems to go into hyperdirve which is distracting. Can't see why the speed would vary with a computer drawing a constant current.
The fan draws air in through a grill on one side of the device. One must be careful to keep the grill pointed up, otherwise there is no air flow! This is a pretty bad design flaw since the intake is on the flat surface that one is inclined to rest the unit on. The fan cooling is not all that efficient because this gets hot enough that I became concerned. (even with the grill not blocked)
I also didn't like the cord style as it is contributes more unwelcome clutter in the car. I would not buy this again. Instead I would try the Black and Decker power adapter priced at $15 that mounts in the cigarette lighter.
