(More customer reviews)I've had a VIAIR 70P for quite some time and that unit is great for the small pump that it is. When I needed another small portable compressor that was able to be powered by a cigarette lighter power socket, I noticed that VIAIR had a new model and got one. This one is almost twice as fast as the 70P and every bit as quiet. The unit doesn't walk around when you're using it and the brass screw-on tire chuck makes for almost no air loss. The LED power indicator is a nice touch and I found the air pressure gauge to be spot-on as long as I turn the compressor off to check pressure. In all, another nice unit. -I just wish this was available when I got my 70P. Side note: don't throw away the box - its a means of storage since this unit doesn't come with a carry bag.

Viair 85P is a small 12 volt portable compressor with a built-in LED work light, capable of inflating up to 31 - inch tires by simply plugging into your cigarette lighter power port (14.5 amperes maximum), and connecting the screw-on tire chuck to a tire valve stem before turning the unit on. Tire pressure can be monitored using the gauge incorporated into the top of the unit, above the ON/OFF switch. The power cord is 10 feet long and the maximum working pressure is 60 PSI. (More customer reviews)1. Requires 15 hours of charge and does not hold for more than a week or so. Will only charge from an AC outlet.(not DC)
2. If you plug this into the DC outlet in the car make sure the key is set to accessories, on older cars the socket is always live but on some newer cars the socket is dead unless the key is and turned on to accessories.
3. There is no support whatsoever from manufacturer, no web site or phone, listed in the manual.
4. I have owned this and used it for about 7 years, still works, however the yellow plastic washer that holds the hose on cracked from pressure.
5. It is loud.
6. There are various connectors hidden in a compartment in the bottom.

(More customer reviews)Just took this for a 40+ mile bike ride in Washington, DC and Virginia (the WO&D trail) and it worked extremely well. Not a completely flawless device but very pleasantly surprising in some ways as well.
Here's how this product breaks down:
PROS:
- Loud, rich, clean mono sound from its single top firing speaker
- Internal mounting of iPod inside the speaker is solid and well thought out
- Overall construction of speaker and bike mount is very solid and rugged
- Battery life is good, device stayed strong for over four hours of riding
- Easy in-speaker recharging of the iPod so it doesn't have to be removed, although that is simple and fast as well
- Nice protective cap for the speaker in case it starts raining or gets muddy, easily stowed on bottom of speaker otherwise
- Easily mounted and rugged remote control for handlebars
- All parts firmly snap together for easy stowage (speaker, cap, remote) in the high quality heavily padded storage bag that comes with it
CONS:
- The device uses four regular non-rechargeable AA batteries to power the speaker instead of a rechargeable battery like most iPod speakers in this price range.
- Unit's remote control batteries arrived dead, indicating that these will have to be replaced often (uses 2 CR2032s)
- Shock mounting for the iPod is not all it could be, had one lock up on the trip that could be attributed to it.
- There are no support pages for this device on the company's Web site, unlike their other products.
- The device points the speaker up at the rider but the sound is sometimes hard to hear on some tracks when moving at high speed.
Overall a complete win if you ask me, there is no competing iPod speaker products that even come close for bike use.

The air compressor is slow, as well. I bought it to use on my outdoor power equipment which sits for a long time and often needs air in the tires and occasionally a jump start. This thing just doesn't cut it.

Slime COMP 07 Rechargable Tire Inflator Review

(More customer reviews)A compact rechargeable inflator that uses a lead-acid battery. Noisy but powerful, it has handy storage for its components, but a useless pressure gauge.
After my last 12V-DC inflator blew the fuses on my Civic, I decided it was time for a tire pump that didn't depend on the car for power. This unit inflates my Civic tires about 2-3 times as fast as the old 12V.
It's not as loud as the car engine and the old pump were (running at the same time), but all the noise is from one point, so it seems louder to my ears. It vibrates enough to "walk" a little while running on the concrete floor.
The unit has storage panels front and back that store all of the cables/accessories that come with it, and a short instruction leaflet. The in-built gauge is useless. It approximates the correct pressure with the unit off (but not clearly enough to read a specific number). But turn the unit on, and the indicated PSI instantly jumps to 40psi and stays there.
I have to check the pressure before and after with my Accutire Digital Tire Gauge. An accurate built-in digital pressure readout would have been outstanding. The flip-tab on the hose is kind of stiff for the first few uses, I ended up letting a bunch of air out of my tires in the process of getting it locked into place.
The product's lead-acid battery has the advantage of no "memory effect", meaning charging the battery w/o discharging it fully doesn't shorten its life (like a Ni-Cad), but the drawback is that much like your car battery, a lead-acid must be kept topped off, and if you allow a lead-acid to drain completely, it fails and is no longer chargable. A Lithium-Ion would have been nice instead, since they are non-toxic (no special disposal needed) and are not harmed by being fully discharged.
I'm unclear on the choice of "Slime" as a brand-name, but it IS memorable, and the product is good. And it sure beats using a filthy public air pump at a gas station (and it's always freezing, searing hot, or raining when you need to do this), if you can even find one that's functioning.
This inflator could be quieter, use a Li-ion battery, and have a usable pressure gauge, but it gets the job done in a compact no-fuss package. Recommended.
