(More customer reviews)I've had a VIAIR 70P for quite some time and that unit is great for the small pump that it is. When I needed another small portable compressor that was able to be powered by a cigarette lighter power socket, I noticed that VIAIR had a new model and got one. This one is almost twice as fast as the 70P and every bit as quiet. The unit doesn't walk around when you're using it and the brass screw-on tire chuck makes for almost no air loss. The LED power indicator is a nice touch and I found the air pressure gauge to be spot-on as long as I turn the compressor off to check pressure. In all, another nice unit. -I just wish this was available when I got my 70P. Side note: don't throw away the box - its a means of storage since this unit doesn't come with a carry bag.

Viair 85P is a small 12 volt portable compressor with a built-in LED work light, capable of inflating up to 31 - inch tires by simply plugging into your cigarette lighter power port (14.5 amperes maximum), and connecting the screw-on tire chuck to a tire valve stem before turning the unit on. (More customer reviews)I got this inflator for about 3 months ago. Good thing about this inflator is portable because of its cordless. Inflating the tires, it is working Okay but noisy. Well, I have used this inflator exacty 3 times. After that, battery died. I unfortunately could not return this product because it passed the returned date [3-month return policy @ Sears]. This inflator depends on battery, so if its batter is death, it would become useless. To make it work, instead of spending more money on new battery, I built an adaptor which allows me to plugin the wire directly to cigarette light. In conclusion, I would NOT recommend you this model. Thus, I do recommend you "Craftsman 12V Portable Inflator Model# 75120" [see link below]. I am really satisfied with this new inflator so far because it inflates tire quicky and quiet. Airman Sport Air Pump, Cordless, 150 PSI (SPT55) Review

(More customer reviews)1. Requires 15 hours of charge and does not hold for more than a week or so. Will only charge from an AC outlet.(not DC)
2. If you plug this into the DC outlet in the car make sure the key is set to accessories, on older cars the socket is always live but on some newer cars the socket is dead unless the key is and turned on to accessories.
3. There is no support whatsoever from manufacturer, no web site or phone, listed in the manual.
4. I have owned this and used it for about 7 years, still works, however the yellow plastic washer that holds the hose on cracked from pressure.
5. It is loud.
6. There are various connectors hidden in a compartment in the bottom.

Slime 40001 Power Sport Tire Inflator Review

(More customer reviews)I have been looking for a portable tire inflator I can use for my motorcycle and with the lack of choices, I deicded to give the Slime Tire Inflator a try. The inflator is really small (a little larger than the palm as the picture indicates) and comes with a case that fit all the wires and the unit itself. The unit draws power only from the battery so you can't plug it into a power outlet from your house. You can either draw power with the alligator clip, a pre wired power source (just like the ones from battery tender), or from a cigarette lighter source. Operation is pretty simple too. You just connect the hose to the unit, connect the power cable and draw power from the battery from whatever one of the three above methods and flip the power switch on the unit.
Now the bad... since it's being labeled as a portable inflator, the casing of the unit look very cheap and filmsy. Just like the previous reviewer mentioned, the unit is obnoxiously loud and vibrates like crazy. Finally, it did take almost 5 minutes to inflate my motorcycle tire from 20 to 30psi so I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone trying it on much larger car tires. The owners manual did say that users should not use the unit for more than 8 minutes at a time which I assume wouldn't even be sufficient to add 5 psi of air into a car tire.
Overall, I think the product does a good job of inflating small tires on the go but I am very concerned about its useable life. With the way the unit vibrates while inflating tires and the filmsy looking case, I would not place much confidence on it to last forever. However, if you own a motorycle/ATV and need an inflator on the go, I would suggest this product since a few tube of air catridges cost just as much as this.

Slime COMP 07 Rechargable Tire Inflator Review

(More customer reviews)A compact rechargeable inflator that uses a lead-acid battery. Noisy but powerful, it has handy storage for its components, but a useless pressure gauge.
After my last 12V-DC inflator blew the fuses on my Civic, I decided it was time for a tire pump that didn't depend on the car for power. This unit inflates my Civic tires about 2-3 times as fast as the old 12V.
It's not as loud as the car engine and the old pump were (running at the same time), but all the noise is from one point, so it seems louder to my ears. It vibrates enough to "walk" a little while running on the concrete floor.
The unit has storage panels front and back that store all of the cables/accessories that come with it, and a short instruction leaflet. The in-built gauge is useless. It approximates the correct pressure with the unit off (but not clearly enough to read a specific number). But turn the unit on, and the indicated PSI instantly jumps to 40psi and stays there.
I have to check the pressure before and after with my Accutire Digital Tire Gauge. An accurate built-in digital pressure readout would have been outstanding. The flip-tab on the hose is kind of stiff for the first few uses, I ended up letting a bunch of air out of my tires in the process of getting it locked into place.
The product's lead-acid battery has the advantage of no "memory effect", meaning charging the battery w/o discharging it fully doesn't shorten its life (like a Ni-Cad), but the drawback is that much like your car battery, a lead-acid must be kept topped off, and if you allow a lead-acid to drain completely, it fails and is no longer chargable. A Lithium-Ion would have been nice instead, since they are non-toxic (no special disposal needed) and are not harmed by being fully discharged.
I'm unclear on the choice of "Slime" as a brand-name, but it IS memorable, and the product is good. And it sure beats using a filthy public air pump at a gas station (and it's always freezing, searing hot, or raining when you need to do this), if you can even find one that's functioning.
This inflator could be quieter, use a Li-ion battery, and have a usable pressure gauge, but it gets the job done in a compact no-fuss package. Recommended.
